Destination Agent
Definition
The local moving company at your new location that handles unloading and delivery for a van line move. May be a different company than the origin agent but operates under the same van line brand.
The destination agent is the local company at your new home that handles the final phase of a van line move. They coordinate with the driver on delivery timing and provide the crew that unloads your shipment.
The destination agent may be a different company than the origin agent. Both are independent businesses operating under the van line's umbrella. This means the delivery crew may be unfamiliar with how your items were packed and loaded.
Your interaction with the destination agent: they will contact you (or you should contact them) to confirm the delivery date and time once the truck is en route. They supply the unloading crew and any special equipment needed at delivery.
Potential issues: the delivery crew did not load the truck, so they may handle items differently than the origin crew. Verify that all items are present by checking the inventory. Note any damage on the delivery receipt before signing.
If you have specific requests for delivery (item placement, furniture reassembly, etc.), communicate them to the destination agent before arrival. The unloading crew will be more accommodating if they know expectations in advance.
