Order for Service
Definition
The document you sign to authorize the move. It confirms the pickup date, services requested, estimate type, and valuation coverage. It must be signed before the mover begins loading.
The Order for Service is your formal authorization for the mover to proceed. It is typically signed before the Bill of Lading (which is created at pickup) and includes the agreed-upon terms.
Key elements: your name and addresses, scheduled pickup date and delivery spread, the estimate type selected (binding, non-binding, or NTE), the valuation coverage you chose (released value or full value protection), a list of services requested (packing, unpacking, disassembly, etc.), and the estimated charges.
Read the Order for Service carefully before signing. This is your last opportunity to make changes to the terms before loading begins. Confirm that the estimate type, services, and dates match what was discussed.
The Order for Service, together with the Bill of Lading, forms the complete contract for your move. Keep copies of both documents.
