Cube Sheet

Definition

A detailed inventory form that lists every item in your shipment with its dimensions and cubic footage. Used to estimate total volume and weight for pricing.

A cube sheet is the estimator's primary tool for calculating the size and weight of your move. Each item is assigned a standard cubic footage based on industry tables (e.g., a standard sofa = 35 cubic feet, a queen mattress set = 40 cubic feet).

The total cubic footage is converted to estimated weight using the industry standard of approximately 7 pounds per cubic foot. This estimated weight drives the pricing for long-distance moves.

Accuracy of the cube sheet depends on the survey method. In-home surveys produce the most accurate cube sheets because the estimator physically sees every item. Phone and online estimates rely on your description, which often misses items in closets, garages, and storage areas.

Review the cube sheet before signing your estimate. Check that all major items are listed and that nothing is double-counted. Missing items will result in a higher-than-expected final bill if you have a non-binding estimate.
